Description

The Imrsiv Personal Authenticator (IPA) is an edge biometric authenticator that uses the electrical activity of your muscles to authenticate and generate secure passwords to access your favorite devices, apps, and web sites. As an edge device the IPA does not transmit your personal biometrics to the cloud.

Unlike fingerprint sensors, palm sensors, face ID, iris or voice identifiers, the IPA uses life based activity for its authentication algorithms and therefore is difficult to fool.

The IPA consists of a wireless dongle and the AI-in-Sensor Authenticator module. To use the IPA simply insert the dongle into your PC, laptop or cell phone.

An app will open and prompts will help you through the enrollment process. After enrollment, access to your device, favorite apps and websites may be optionally gated by the IPA.

The IPA app includes resident software which will generate and enter strong passwords into your favorite apps so that you don’t have to remember them or write them down.

Muscle Based Authentication

Fingerprint sensors & palm sensors, utilize the ridges of your fingerprints or palms to generate a unique image that is used for authentication as shown in Figure 4. The image that results is used for authentication.

Face ID & Iris utilize an image directly for authentication, and voice uses an image generated from sound to produce an image for authentication.

Figure 5. Muscle Waveform in Wavelet Domain

Figure 5 illustrates the image that is produced from the muscles of an individual who places their fingers on the AIin-Sensor IPA. These images are a wavelet mapping rather than a filter, which is important because it means that your important biometric information is not removed from the image. The image is unique to the user and also contains life based information that helps ensure that the user is a real person.

The basic idea is that your muscle packets grow in a semirandom fashion similar to the way that fingerprints grow. The electrical signature radiated when these muscle packet sactuate produces electrical energy which can be mapped into a picture. The electrical energy is very tiny, however, and therefore a special chip called the AIS339 from AIStorm is required to amplify and extract the information in conjunction with Linear Dimension’s proprietary PEAL based extraction system which is based on wavelets.

Thereafter Linear Dimensions AI authentication system recognizes those unique images from your muscles to create an identification packet.

Unique 128 Byte Recognition Vector

Figure 6. Unique 128-Byte Identifier

Instead Linear Dimensions’ AI based wavelet authenticator converts your muscle electrical activity to a 128 byte code which is one part of a private/public entryption scheme. This is further illustrated in Figure 7 where the 8 bit numbers are converted to a color.

The private key generated by the IPA cannot be reversed and is independent of the image from which it was generated. As such your private biometric information never leaves your device or is communicated to cloud.

Although you may exert more energy actuating your musclesin different activities the general shape of your heart muscle does not change. For this reason you will be recognized even after or during different activities.

Enrollment

To enroll simply plug the wireless dongle into your PC, laptop or cell phone. An application will pop up that will have you place your two fingers on the AI-in-Sensor IPA module with your body in various positions. It takes the information in various positions to help learn about your muscle activity when you are doing different things, and to remove noise eminating from nearby muscles which might be radiating large amounts of energy when you are doing different things. This energy if not removed might confuse the reading.

It is also possible for the IPA module to allow entry to your device directly from Windows. The app will help provide this option during enrollment, or may be added later through the app.

Password Generation

When prompted for a password by various applications, websites, or apps, a resident popup will become visible which will ask if you want it to generate a strong password and remember it for you. Thereafter, whenever you come back to the same place the resident app will again appear and with knowledge of the password will ask you to place your fingers on the IPA module. There are different levels of security such that the app can type your password for you if you are already authenticated on the system, or it can ask each time your use the web site or app.
